Federal Programs
| With the reauthorization of the federal government's Elementary and Secondary Education Act (E.S.E.A) known as "No Child Left Behind" (N.C.L.B.), Title I has moved into the limelight of educational initiatives within West Virginia's schools. The Title I schools in Tucker County are Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School and Davis Thomas Elementary Middle School. Both Schools are School-Wide Projects, allowing every students, teacher and parent to embrace the support provided by Title I. | |

II, Part A, is increased flexibility allowing school districts to
implement a plan for increased student academic achievement through: |

Title III |
Title III is a program of study for limited English Proficient Students, ages 3-21, who are enrolled or preparing to enroll in an elementary or secondary school and were was not born in the United States or whose native language is a language other than English. Students identified as LEP are tested using the WESTEL and inquires should be directed to David Dilly. |

Title IV |
Title IV, Safe & Drug Free Schools, authorized by the Improving America's Schools Act of 1994, provided financial assistance for drug and violence prevention activities in elementary and secondary schools. Title V |
Title V - Part A is to support promising educational reform programs and school improvement programs based on scientifically based research to improve school, student and teacher performance. |

Title IX |
Title IX, of the Educational
Amendments of 1972, is a landmark legislation that bans sex
discrimination in schools, whether it be in academics or athletics.
Title IX states: "No person in the US shall on the basis of
sex be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, or
be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or
