About Us

Located at the center of beautiful Tucker County, Tucker County High School is a small “A” school that is family-oriented. We pride ourselves on being student-centered and balancing support and challenge for all learners. We believe that we are one of the best schools in West Virginia. TCHS offers a variety of Honors and AP courses, as well as courses in the arts and technical education. Our status as a comprehensive high school allows students to access our career and technical center via a connecting hallway from the high school to the career center. Students have the option of taking online college courses through Eastern Community and Technical College during their high school days. To complete the high school experience, Tucker County High School offers a variety of athletic teams, school clubs, community service projects, work-based learning experiences, and community engagement opportunities.
Tucker County High School has adopted the High Schools That Work initiative through a partnership with the Southern Regional Education Board. Through our partnership, our goal is to continuously strengthen our curriculum by utilizing modern best educational practices. The school also continues to expand its curriculum with dual credit and AP classes, differentiated learning, project-based learning, collaborative learning, and an advisor/advisee program. These strategies have raised our standards and enabled us to better meet the varied needs of individual students. By raising the bar, we are able to instill a strong work ethic and a high level of self-confidence, enabling every student to reach his or her full potential.
Understanding the need for our students to be part of the community and for the community to be part of our school, we have established a positive and active relationship with our LSIC, local businesses, and our community as a whole. As our world changes around us, it is imperative that we change as well. We must prepare our students for success in the 21st Century. By incorporating critical thinking skills, creative thinking skills, project-based learning, cooperative learning, and technical skills, we believe that we can achieve our goal.
