Hello TCHS Community, This is an important announcement regarding tomorrow, 2/24. Due to a water line break affecting our fire suppression system, TCHS students will not be required to attend school, and tomorrow will be a virtual learning day. Students, please check your Google Classroom or LiveGrades for assignments and updates from your teachers. This is not a snow packet day. Only complete the next snow packet if directed by your teachers via Google Classroom or LiveGrades. TCHS staff, please note that you are expected to follow your regular schedule and report to the Tucker County Board of Education offices for your workday tomorrow. Thank you for your attention, and stay tuned for any further updates.

This call is intended for TCHS student drivers. Even if we have a full day of school tomorrow, January 11th, student drivers are not permitted to drive. This is due to the current conditions of student parking spaces, in which we cannot guarantee that students will be able to safely enter and exit their parking spaces. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to be able to return to normal operations next week.

This afternoon, freshman through junior students received a letter and a copy of their PSAT scores. We encourage you to review those scores with your student, and as the letter states, pay special attention to the percentile in which your student ranked. This is a good representation of how your student performed compared to other students taking the exam. If those scores do not meet your expectations, we encourage you to reach out to your students’ teachers to collaborate on ways in which your student can improve and encourage your student to give their full effort every opportunity they have to demonstrate their full capabilities.

Good afternoon. This message is for Senior parents in regard to the FAFSA Workshop that we will be hosting this Wednesday, November 29th from 5:30-7:00 pm here at the high school. The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission will be here to give you an overview of scholarships, grants, and other financial aid. Most importantly, they can assist you in creating a FAFSA ID. This event is especially important this year due to the fact that so many changes have been made to the FAFSA process. We encourage all Senior parents to attend. Please be aware that you will not be filling out the FAFSA at this event. The FAFSA will not be opened until sometime in December. We will be holding another event in January for you to come in and complete the FAFSA. This is workshop is designed to give you information, answer questions you may have, and help you in setting up your FAFSA ID. Your ID must be created 3 to 5 days before filling out the FAFSA, so if you come and do that with us on Wednesday, you will be ready to go in January when the FAFSA is open. It is important to know that depending on how you filed your 2022 taxes, both parents may need to create an ID. This includes stepparents as well. The WVHEPC will be here during the afternoon to work with students to get their FAFSA ID created. In order for them to do this, the student will need to have the following information about their parents: the parents legal name, date of birth, social security number, and email address. Each parent must have their own personal email for this process. It is very important for us to know how many families plan on attending this event so that we have enough help. If you plan on attending, please go to the Tucker County High School Facebook page and click on the pinned post at the top of the page under featured. The registration link is in that post for you to reserve a spot. If you are unable to register online or if you have any questions, please call Mrs. Godfrey at the high school at 304-478-2651. We hope to see all Senior parents on Wednesday November 29th at 5:30.
