Good evening Tucker County families. This call is to let you know that all Tucker County Schools will be operating on a 2 hour delay tomorrow February 13th.
For TCHS only:
Due to the water line break not being repaired yet, TCHS will be closed again tomorrow 2/5/24. Students will complete their classwork virtually and staff will report to the BOE annex.
The other two schools will operate in session as normal.

This is an important announcement regarding tomorrow, 2/24. Due to a water line break affecting our fire suppression system, TCHS students will not be required to attend school, and tomorrow will be a virtual learning day.
Students, please check your Google Classroom or LiveGrades for assignments and updates from your teachers. This is not a snow packet day. Only complete the next snow packet if directed by your teachers via Google Classroom or LiveGrades.
TCHS staff, please note that you are expected to follow your regular schedule and report to the Tucker County Board of Education offices for your workday tomorrow.

The TCHS girls game against Elkins has been moved from a home game to an away game this evening due to a water line break.
Game time is at 6:00 starting with JV with the Varsity game following.
Again, the game tonight will be played at Elkins High School.
The first semester's report cards were sent home with students this afternoon. Please ask your student to see it and review it with them. If they do not bring it home or you need another copy of it, please contact the school at (304) 478-2651, and we will be happy to provide you with a copy of it.

Wednesday, January 24 is the last day to Pre-Register your preschool age child for the Preschool Screenings to take place at the Tucker County Early Childhood Festival this spring. If you have a child who will be of preschool age next fall, please call the Tucker County Board of Education Office at 304-478-2771 to pre-register on or before this coming Friday. To be eligible for preschool, your child must be 4 years old on or before June 30, 2024. Three year olds may be eligible for preschool, if they who are functioning at, or lower than, 75 percent of the normal rate of development, or who perform 1.5 standard deviations or more below the mean in consideration of 1.0 standard error of measurement on a standardized evaluation instrument, in two or more of the following areas: Cognition; Motor; Communication; Social Emotional; and/or Self-Help Skills.

Update: All Tucker County Schools are now closed today for a traditional snow day.
All Tucker County Schools will operate on a Polar Day tomorrow (1/19/24). Students are to complete Polar Packet #3 and staff is to report on a 2 hour delay schedule. If conditions worsen another call may be issued in the morning.
Due to the extreme windchill temperatures forecasted for tomorrow (1/17/2024) all Tucker County Schools will operate on a Polar Day. Students are to complete Polar Packet #2 and staff are to report on a 2 hour delay schedule.
This call is intended for TCHS student drivers. Even if we have a full day of school tomorrow, January 11th, student drivers are not permitted to drive. This is due to the current conditions of student parking spaces, in which we cannot guarantee that students will be able to safely enter and exit their parking spaces. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to be able to return to normal operations next week.

All Tucker County Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay tomorrow December 19th. We will continue to monitor the snow accumulation and road conditions throughout the night and if an additional call has to be made it will go out in the morning.

This afternoon, freshman through junior students received a letter and a copy of their PSAT scores. We encourage you to review those scores with your student, and as the letter states, pay special attention to the percentile in which your student ranked. This is a good representation of how your student performed compared to other students taking the exam. If those scores do not meet your expectations, we encourage you to reach out to your students’ teachers to collaborate on ways in which your student can improve and encourage your student to give their full effort every opportunity they have to demonstrate their full capabilities.
